Ask the HR Girl: Why the Best Employees Aren’t Always the Best Managers

Dear HR Girl,

I do HR for a non-profit and against my advice, the leadership promoted a great employee into management. This is the third one this year. Different positions but similar situation, of leadership taking an employee that is great at doing their job and promoting them to management.

In all of these cases, the employees did not have any supervisory experience and was unable to perform the task.  Any suggestions on dealing with leadership so this does not keep happening.
